Community Information Resources for Canton Mill Closure

Mill employees, their families, business owners, and community members affected by the closure of the Pactiv Evergreen paper mill in Canton now have several new options for staying up to date on resources available to anyone affected by the mill’s closure.

Beginning 8 a.m. Monday, March 27, those seeking help with employment, training, health insurance, healthcare, and financial assistance/guidance are encouraged to call the Mill Town Strong telephone helpline at 828-356-2023.

The helpline will operate between the hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and is intended to assist callers with both Health and Human Services and Community Resources.

The confidential helpline is available to any individual impacted by the mill closure. It is not intended for emergencies. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911. If you are having a mental health or substance use crisis and need to speak to a trained counselor, call the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Up-to-date information about job fairs, employment opportunities, career training, mental health, and community resources will also be published online at www.MillTownStrong.com, and on the Facebook page Canton Mill Community Resources.
